I guess like many people I've decided to do something else to fill the void of no gigs and rehearsal. I'm quite handy with recording audio but I've never done any video stuff. So, I've got myself a YouTube account and started posting a few videos of me in my home studio playing along to various tracks I've recorded. I decided to just do the solo/instrumental sections to keep them short and so far just linked them on Facebook for my friends to see.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a few on here too just in case anyone might be interested. I've already posted an isolation video I put together for one of my bands. Here's a couple of my short solo sections I've done recently. Any comments, thoughts, criticism, feedback much appreciated.

I'll add a few more in the coming days.

Here's two to start with:

@fastonebaz Thanks! Actually you’re partly responsible for me doing this. One of the solo of the month entries you posted as a video (it was a while ago). At the time I had no clue how to do that with anything other than just phone audio. So there you are, you inspired me to learn a new skill :) Thank you again!

Nic job bud....depending on what your expectations are from these, consider the tags in the YT details, I changed mine and got lots more views as they up in searches more, also the titles, so maybe add in " using Gibson 335 " or whatever it is , and also the amp , all these things attract  search engines and viewers ;-)

For example - on one of my Jam vids I added all of these in video manager.

Really good. Understated and very musical. Nice tone.

    It's not a competition.

@spark240 I’ve no real expectations, I’m not trying to build a following or sell anything, it’s just for my own enjoyment and to share with people who might be interested. I’m working on a couple of videos for two of my bands at the moment though so the tag thing may well be really useful for those, so thanks for the advice :)

    @stratman3142 Cheers!

Very nice restrained playing. I do love that EBow stuff in the second clip. Is it an actual EBow that you are using?.

    Semi-Acoustic - check
    Bigsby - check
    EBow - check
    Good tone - check
    Nice playing -check

    5 out of 5 from me. :)

    Hi @equalsql and thanks!

It’s actually old school feedback. Just gain, volume and proximity. :)

Thanks again! Yes, took a bit of setting up to get it right. The speaker was just out of shot to the right of the image about 18inches from the guitar. A Suhr Riot into a JRAD Tim Pierce through an Egnater Tweaker. Not mad loud but just enough to get it singing :)

So here's a couple more. The first one is of a Solo of the Month entry I did a year or two ago. I decided to video myself re recording note for note (well......more or less) the original solo.

Second is from a track I originally recorded around 2011 for the band The Smiling Strangers, called Feet Don't Fail Me. This version features my ex @Gassage Les Paul.

@Rowby1 lovely range of styles covered there. Great tones and playing.  Nice guitar collection too.  That Red Eastman looks sweet as!

    A few from me...

    This is a recent one

@AndyJP thanks! Nice work yourself too!

Yes, the Eastman’s a recent acquisition, just got it about 2 weeks before lockdown. Just squeezed in one gig with it before it all came to a grinding halt. It’s a cracking guitar and make a great companion to my Heritage 535. Got some nice looking guitars there too I see :)

The Eastman sounds gorgeous. How does it compare to the Heritage?

Thx buddy, Gibson Es349 and a partscaster.

Apologies, didn't mean to hijack your thread. I misread and thought this thread was for posting up vids....

Both very good but with different character. Neck on the Heri is quite slim, more chunky (but certainly not fat) on the Eastman. Build quality, finish etc is impressive on the Eastman, at least as good if not better than the Heri. P-90s (SD Phat Cats actually) on the Eastman and Oil City Bean-Os on the Heri mean the two can cover a lot of bases tonally.
