Partcaster project: Neck suppliers

What's Hot
Hello to the community,

I hope you are all well and safe. Although I 've been reading the forum's threads for quite a while now, I just joined to get some advice with regards to a partcaster I want to build. Researching neck suppliers, I 've stumbled across these guys here:

https://www.forestguitarsupplies.com/

The company behind it is called Bernal Guitar Design based in Madrid and this is the only reference I was able to find:

http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=107001

I 'd like to order something from Warmoth (or from one of the local UK reputable names, eg Crimson Guitars, Northwestern Guitars, etc),  but the Spanish folks price seems legit.

Any thoughts? Thanks

PS I hope this won't be taken as an advertisement. I 'm  not affiliated with any of the brands mentioned above.

The link you provided is a different Bernal, the one from Foro Flamenco is for Valeriano Bernal guitars who make flamenco guitars and are based in Algodonales in the South.

As for the company you provided a link for the necks are made in Spain. They only seem to have a few friends on FB and a few posts all this year, I presume they are a new company.

The gear looks ok, not a massive amount of options in terms of specs but if what they’re offering is what you want then seems ok.
I do think it’s a bit naughty that the list price on necks is unfretted

If it's standard neck stuff hosco is hard to beat for the money and you can buy them from axecaster, WD music, allparts

Axecaster are great because you can everything in one place and good prices too

Thank you all. Yes, I 'm aware of the rest of the UK suppliers but first of all they do seem to have limited stock at the moment (covid-19 and all I guess) and generally they don't have what I 'm looking to install (probably roasted maple neck, flatter neck profile, etc, etc).

I recently found out that Fender has started doing MIM* parts like necks and bodies and they do provide what they call a flat oval neck profile, but their quality seems to be hit and miss (mainly when it comes to roasted maple with pau ferro fretboards, all maple looks good). And price wise they are not very different from others which have products of known quality (eg, Warmoth, Musikraft or other UK distributors/makers).

    Anyways, thanks again 1

    * Nothing against MIM, Indonesia, etc since they have proven that they can make more than excellent instruments. It's not rocket since after all.

Generally speaking, the more specialised and/or personal a self-build guitar becomes, the smaller the chances of ever selling it on - should the need arise.

The economics of self-building dictate that a project should be either cheap ‘n’ fun or a keeper for life. Therefore, you might as well indulge yourself to the maximum.

You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

I bought some stuff from "Guitar Anatomy" recently and they had a few very nice looking roasted maple necks for sale - might be worth a look ?

I wasn't aware of them. Thanks Pete! 1  Stuff looks nice, but I hate that they have the trusted rod adjustment on the heel side.

Edit: Actually, I checked again. It's not true for all of the necks they sell. But most of them are out-of-stock. I guess it's due to the covid situation. Well, I 'm not in a hurry anyway.
