Dead pickup?

What's Hot
Just got mint Fender CS bridge & neck pickups from Reverb seller (not a matching pair) and I can’t get a sound from the Twisted Tele bridge pickup. It looks fine. Neck pickup is fine. I don’t have a multimeter to test it. Is there a safe way of checking it’s really dead before I return it? It hadn’t been used or tested by the seller who is I’m sure very trustworthy.

Have you got an iron, if so try wetting the solder joint where the winding meets the output wire.

You could plug a cable into an amp,  tape one pickup wire on the hot of the jack and then touch the other pickup wire .. if it buzzes like it would normally then pickup is not open circuit

I’m reluctant to take a soldering iron too near it given my track record. 2nd method sounds a better bet...
