Replacement pads for headphones

I'm not sure this is the correct section, but I figured the recording section was more logical.

I've had my Shure SRH440 for a few years and the covering on the pads is somewhat worn. I like the headphones and don't see it as an opportunity to buy a new set.

Is it better practise to find Shure-branded pads specifically for the headphones (£16.90 according to Shure website) or would generic ones for whole Shure range (£8.89 on ebay or less than a fiver if I choose a Chinese selle? r) be just as good?

Or is this the old remould tyre thing were cheaper can be more expensive in the longrun?

You should google reviews on the various pads as replacement pads vary, eg the generic Chinese ones I got for a set of Sony's is preferable to the official pads which flake off.
