Piano and synth/pad vst

What's Hot
I'm wanting to get back into recording and want to use my MAudio Oxygen 61. I'm going to use Reaper as my DAW. Can anyone Recommend a good either free or cheap piano and synth/pad vsti?

The free Kontakt 6 Player is an option. I'm a bit out of touch with the free Native Instruments stuff but I think Komplete Start might be where to start with that.

    It's not a competition.

Thanks. That does look like it could be a good option

I've downloaded Kontakt and there's some keys sounds on there (as well as some great other sounds) but no standard piano. Anyone know of a good option?

Haven’t tried them, but there’s a couple here might be worth a try.

Sampletekk(.com) have 80% off their instruments at the moment. Lots of good pianos. Think you'll need a full version of Kontakt though.

The FluidR3 GM soundfont (link below) will give you the General Midi instruments including pianos.
    https://member.keymusician.com/Member/FluidR3_GM/index.html

Then you'll need a free soundfont player such as sforzando.
    https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando.html

Btw. Kontakt 5 plays soundfonts but they appear to have dropped that feature from Kontakt 6.

Years ago I used 4front upright piano

If you don't mind paying then Truepianos is a good, reasonably inexpensive option
    https://www.truepianos.com

Those are ones I use or have used. There are newer free versions if you Google 'free piano vst'

The pianos I mostly use these days are Addictive Keys, or occasionally the NI pianos that come with Komplete Ultimate.

    It's not a competition.

Thanks all. I'll take a look. Sadly funds don't allow paying for the full version of Kontakt but I'll see how I go with these ones first.

Try Spitfire Studios LAB collection. I use the electric piano but I think they have an acoustic one.

Some of their stuff has atmospherics like big reverts added so you might want to work through them to see for yourself.

I've got into this scenario lately though i do use cubase.
I also bought an M-Audio Oxygene which was bundled with a vst called Xpand!2 which i have been very impressed with.
It might be worth seeing what came with yours?
I am also using the Roland Cloud (Free version) which i would also highly recommend - somehow the sounds just "lift" above a normal vst.
The other thing i've discovered is that it seems more economical to buy a midi controller with bundled synth than just to buy the software which took a while to get my head round.
Arturia Minilab 2 being an example where you get the keyboard and analog Labs lite for £90 odd quid at Andertons
