Right, so I am 33 and my favourite band of all time is a little known band (in the UK at least) called Silverchair. They are GODS in Australia but apart from a cult following overseas they are not that well known. I came across them in my teens in the late 90s, Daniel Johns is one hell of a guitar player. Sadly after 1999 they went a bit shit with every album after Neon Ballroom in 1999.
Anyway, since COVID and how busy every online retailer is, I've not had the chance to properly chill out and listen to music. I've spent all weekend so far re-living my teens and lsitening to some 90's grunge.
I love the passion and emotion in this live gig from 1999 when they were at their peak. Like I say, they were whack after that, as sadly many Silverchair fans know.

I must’ve been 15-16 at the time and I think they were the same kind of age as me and my mate and we thought it was amazing that kids our age has a famous band.
He made a decent album with Paul Mac called The Dissociatives.
I think this is one of the better SC songs

This probably gave a nod to where SC would go on their last album

My brother was a fan but probably didn't get beyond the first four albums (I see there was only one more).
I thought they were OK but their sound/style changed too much - they were probably too successful too young, and had to do their growing up, and making their mistakes, in public.
Last time I saw a picture of Daniel Johns he looked all emaciated and fucked up. I hope he's OK. Come to think of it, he always reminded me of Adam Rickitt out of Coronation Street....they're doppelgangers.
Diorama and young modern I thought were a shambles in comparison and I went off them.
love freak show, frog stomp has some belters.
i think Daniel Johns had written 2-3 number one hits before he was 19, Too much too young as they say but a major shame the band split.

I know Daniel Johns is dabbling in some odd electro stuff now, wonder what the other 2 are up to? Counting their money? I assume Paul Mac is still involved in music. Didn't he produce them at one stage?
The other 2 are counting their money. I think Ben Gilles had a bar that recently burnt down in a fire. Daniel Johns last week tweeted a photo of him playing a guitar for the first time in years (the Les Paul in the video linked above) sparking rumours of a reform.
Apparently he was "finished with guitar music". His electro stuff is utter garbage.
Paul Mac i think was introduced into Neon Ballroom, hence the introduction of slight orchestral music into the album, but it wasn't too overdone, the albums after that were far too orchestral for my liking, I think they all fell out over the direction it was all heading in. Supposed to be a rock band after all.
