Recommendation for Solder Wick

The last two reels of solder wick I've bought have been rubbish, really rubbish.  Don't seem to absorb solder at all or with extreme difficulty.  Just wondering if anyone could recommend a brand that they've used and that works well as I've just run out.  Many thanks!

I asked this question a while back, seems that any one is as crap as the next!

I found that loads of flux and a 40w iron helped.

Bloody weird isn't it.  The wick I used to use was ace and then the place I used stopped stocking it and so just took a punt and it was crap.  I'm still hopeful somebody will respond and recommend a halfway decent product!!

Servisol Soldermop type R is the one I use ... very good wick

Ask someone who might know, I buy my solder from these guys and it is the bees knees, they might have a decent product for you.

Yeah, use a sucker but good wick is great for really cleaning up!

Thought I would resurrect this thread to confirm that I ended up trying a couple of reels of Chemtronics 'Chem-Wik' (.075) and this is miles better than any Wick I have ever used.  Couldn't get over the extent to which it absorbed the solder. It also seemed to absorb far more per cm than seemed possible.

Highly recommended!
