Having issues with ASIO/Direct sound/Windows Audio setup

So I am completely new to recording/playing electric guitar on the PC. I have an i7 4790k, 16 gig of ram on windows 10 connected to a Focusrite 2i2. I am trying to set up the sound options in several different apps but all are having the same issue.

Every time I choose ASIO in the options it removes my option to Chanel the output through my headphones or speakers connected to the PC. Instead, it only gives me the option to feed the output back into my Focusrite 2i2.

Is this right or am I missing something?

Yeah that's right, your basically telling Windows to use the interface as it's audio device. Your better off using windows audio for windows sounds if your plugging headphones and speakers into it's internal soundcard and ASIO for recording within your DAW

Ahhh ok cool, thanks for the reply. That was driving me nuts.

What about using WASAPI over ASIO? Is it better or worse? Is WASAPI like windows default audio driver?
