Buying as well as building ?

Hi all - hope all is well with everyone.

An odd thing has happened since I started building my own guitars.

Particularly after the recent Tele build I have been lusting after another Fender, and just bought a nice white AM Pro Tele. 
Some of this is to be able compare my own efforts, and also have a good reference to take measurements from for future self-builds. 

Does anyone else do this  ? 

I'd have bought a late 50s DC Junior by now too if I could afford it !!!

i think most of us build guitars because we like guitars.   That means you end up buying a few along the way too.

I don't trust builders who claim they have no interest in guitars which are not built from their own hands

I started building guitars after the wife said I wasn't allowed to buy any more, had 9 guitars and the wife said I didn't play each of them enough to justify buying more...

I was hoping building would slow down the buying, I mean it takes weeks to build a guitar, but I can buy one in seconds ...
