Naptha

Dan Erlewine and others often espouse the use of naptha for cleaning various guitar bits, gunk of fretboards etc.
Is this stuff simply a posh name for (Zippo style) lighter fuel or something more specific? I had a scare with a nitro finished guitar recently and would like to avoid making an expensive mistake

I believe naphtha and panel wipe are the same thing. Handy to have around for cleaning a surface prior to spraying (should it require degreasing)

naptha is pretty much the same as zippo lighter fluid, or similar brands. 

we use it a lot and you can probably pick it up in pound shops

Avoid smoking and Hendrix tributes

Yes, Zippo lighter fluid. I keep a tin of it for degreasing fretboards and sometimes cleaning strings.

Two of my next door neighbours are fire officers and I reckon they'd frown on using that to start fires..... I'm sure they cringe when I fire up the chimnea
