Apollo duo mkii

Can anyone confirm thunderbolt 1 is ok for the UA Apollo duo mk Ii? Looking at iMacs and a 2012 model I’d loads cheaper than a 2015 model.  Any big reasons to go for a 2015+?

According to this, a Thunderbolt 2 cable.

Thanks for that.  This is the excerpt from the manual, not sure why you need a 2 cable if it supports 1
