Indeed. Anyone remember the Linear Concord amps? 50W EL34s had a 'music/gram' input or a high Z mic. Beloved of bingo halls and WMClubs. Anyway, they went through EL34S, even Mullies in 6 months or so. The problem was the HT was 550-600V and no screen Rs. I used used a Radiospares 'dropper' section, a ceramic tube resistor and mounted on 2BA studding to drop the HT for everything past the anode supply and fitted 1k screen resistors. Don't think I ever saw one after that mod. (unless it had Watneys Red Barrel init)
