Slide help

What's Hot
I am very new to slide so know I have a lot to learn but I wonder if anyone can help with something.

if I am playing on one string that is ok, but if I want to play a lick that alternates between two or more strings I don't know how to dampen/mute the string I was previously on so it doesn't ring out when I'm picking the other string. i.e. if I play E frets 4-6 then B frets 4-9 the E string sounds when I'm picking the B string.

You can use your fingers behind the slide , or your other hand , to dampen strings . Have a look on YouTube . It is better to see it demonstrated .

  • Right hand, it’s either pick & fingers or just fingers.

The slide is more often than not in contact with strings that you aren’t playing.

You’ve got to get your right-hand muting game together: when it’s time for a string to stop ringing, you drop a finger on it...the trick is doing this at the same time as you’re playing another string with another finger ;)
