£1399 - used 335's seldom go for less on Ebay.

The Iced Tea with zebras would be my pick...

  • Any with white/cream guards are unacceptable on the grounds of good taste... The sunburst one with P90s looks cool....

  • Guards can be changed or even better removed!

  • They look great. Similar on spec to the Les Paul I should be getting tomorrow (Trad Pro II), gloss top but satin back/neck, I guess that's how they keep the price point down a bit.

Good luck with the Lester. I'd be seriously checking one out if I didn't already have mine. The 335 is calling me...

Satin might be a cost cutting exercise but it suits me. Not that it matters I would imagine the necks gloss up a bit through play anyway.

The white is the protective film on the guards - For dome reason Gibson photograph 335s with it on. I assume that they're black underneath - it can't be white, even gibson would do that, would they?

Correct I've just zoomed in on a photo and it is indeed the protective film.

Several are black in the photos....

Either they peeled the film off those, or you're wrong....

I HOPE they've peeled the film off....

    They look reet nice.

I'd get the pickguard off and put some covered buckers in.

The Cherry one with p-90's would do nicely I feel, a bit more money though :(

  • Would the natural ones have the best tone 'cos they'd have used the best wood for those, and any old firewood for underneath a paint job?

Although I have to say I lurve the vintage s/burst finish
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

I doubt it, they are just plywood after all. ;-)
Some of the lower cost Gibsons of modern times have tended to have a thick 'plasticised' nitro coat and on some that can dampen the resonance and brightness of the sound a little IMO.

As always with a Gibson, play it first. When they are good they are very good!

  • I much prefer the look of a 335 with block inlays, myself, and covered 'buckers (zebra HB's always look wrong to me, without exception).

..so for me, it's back to dreaming about the even-less-affordable ones :(

Is this the same guitar? (P90 version)
    http://www.thomann.de/gb/gibson_es_335_trans_brown_p90.htm
If so - my guess is that guitar guitar have a blow-out deal on 2012 models. (Look at the case style in the Thomann pics - I think the 2013 cases are brown).

Not sure if it is the same - very similar. It makes the guitarguitar ones excellent value though? That is of course if you consider that a £1400 outlay on a guitar is worth it...

  • I'd love a P90 335.  The finance is great too, 0% over 24 months.

Why the hell did you have to go and point that out?! :O

Seriously tempted by the sunburst/P90 one now, does anyone know what neck profile these have?
