Reaper and Kontact

Currently using Reaper as my Daw with a helix LT as the sound card. My set up is usually:

Guitar
Guitar DI
Spare for guitar 
Spare for guitar DI 
Keys (kontact plug in)
Drums (kontact/GGD plug in) 

I upgraded my machine to its got 16gb of ram but when I run the drums and keys at the same time, it can't handle it so starts to lag/stutter,/crackle/go all 8 bit. Im not monitoring any of the channels via Reaper and it fine with just guitars and drums.


Is there anything else I should look at see if it will help?

Does it only happen when the midi editor is open?

No, mainly during play back

Sounds vert much like latency 'crackle.' I've never actually used my LT as the soundcard, but can you adjust the buffer. Either that or if you freeze your instances of kontakt / render to audio, that should help a LOT.

@Adji that's what I think it is. I got a ux2 here which I could plug in, I'll try that and report back

Does the Reaper performance meter show a high CPU use?

Have you got the stand alone Kontakt interface open at the same time as the Kontakt plugin?

Sounds like your cpu is overloaded. Try bumping up your buffer size to max?

Buffer crackle.

VI's are more processor intensive and processing audio.
Raise the buffer size.
