Audio interface and mic for singing and guitar

Miss Munckee is recording her own songs for gcse music. We have been using an iPhone with additional mic but she wants to go audio interface into her laptop.

We don’t have a mic either, Scarlett seems popular and you can get an interface and mic combo at Andertons for £180ish.

Are there options for less which will still give good quality recordings?

Also which type of mic if using for guitar and singing?  I know there are condenser and ribbon etc but I don’t know which is best general mic type.

Thanks in advance.

Anything this bracket will be similar cost, usually sub £200...all are pretty decent quality.

If its serious I would buy the interface only without the mic, then Geta decent condenser,...which will most likely cost more than the interface...but well worth it in my opinion.
