That looks fantastic, it's got the look of an Alembic about it.

Very nice Andy. Those Nova tuners look very interesting. Are you using screws or magnets for the control cavity cover?

    Thanks, Roland :)

Screws - there are just too many wires (47) to trust magnets.  The hatch stays closed without even the screws today, but it would only need those looms to shift a touch after, say, changing the battery, and it would be a problem.  So screws, in this particular instance, is more prudent.

Thanks - and that's good to hear. :)

I outlined at the beginning of the thread that A, the prospective owner, wanted an 'old school' vibe and I showed him some shots of @impmann 's Alembicesque build, which he liked.  So yes - intentional :)

I may have missed it .. but what finishing technique did you use if this one Andy - there is a quite a gloss on that top?

Just tru-oil slurry and buff to act as a sealer, grain filler and leveller and then 2 or 3 thin coats of tru-oil wiped on.  A, the prospective owner, wanted a medium gloss.  Being tru- oil, the gloss level will drop a little over the next few months.

Thanks @Sarge ;;  I still make numerous whoopsies, but I'm getting better at sorting them out along the way.

I have another shortscale bass on the board - 5 string single cut this time - but am also in discussion with a TheFretboard member for a really interesting guitar build that is going to stretch all of my abilities!
