Screws - there are just too many wires (47) to trust magnets. The hatch stays closed without even the screws today, but it would only need those looms to shift a touch after, say, changing the battery, and it would be a problem. So screws, in this particular instance, is more prudent.

I outlined at the beginning of the thread that A, the prospective owner, wanted an 'old school' vibe and I showed him some shots of @impmann 's Alembicesque build, which he liked. So yes - intentional

I have another shortscale bass on the board - 5 string single cut this time - but am also in discussion with a TheFretboard member for a really interesting guitar build that is going to stretch all of my abilities!
