Audient Evo 4

What's Hot
Anyone tried this? I’d been looking at the (comparatively) affordable Scarlett interfaces when I came across this winning guitar accessory of the year on Guitar.com https://guitar.com/features/awards/best-guitar-accessories-2020/

Funnily enough it only got an 8/10 in the actual review.. anyway, I like the look of it, and the price is very decent. Appreciate any comments!

  • i’ve had an id4 and i now use an id44 from Audient and i would highly recommend. Can’t see these being any different. Quality bits of kit.

I have one, really like it.  Clean and quiet mic pre’s, DI is good, intuitive to use.

If it is of any interest these tracks were both recorded on the evo 4.

If I was buying again I’d probably go for the evo 8, just for the extra inputs, but the 8 came out after I got my 4

I was going to jump in on the Evo interfaces (probably the Evo 8), but there's one piece of functionality that stopped me - it cuts the main outputs when you plug headphones in.

I leave my headphones plugged in all the time and use software volume controls to switch between monitors and headphones in order to avoid the dreaded mechanical socket wear (as well as for convenience). To make that compromise seems like a step backwards for me.

It's a shit, because they look like fantastic no-frills interfaces otherwise.

The 4 does that but not the 8 I believe.

It’s not something that bothers me but I can understand if your workflow is setup a different way it could be frustrating.

I've been looking for an interface to get into home recording and a lot of places I've talked to stand by the Focusrite units but they've also mentioned and rated the Audient ones saying they're very good, good spec and similar money to the Scarlett but in their opinion, were better than the Roland Rubix, Presonus and Marantz units.

Here's a link to a recent Sound On Sound review comparing the Evo 4 & 8

Sounds pretty decent! Nice playing there (I'm assuming you're the guitarist).

I appreciate the input from you all. The headphones-only limitation on the 4 is not a problem for my use case though.

Apparently Evo will reveal 'something new' tonight at 6 on the 'gram.

Nice. I've been listening to Bo Ramsey a lot so I'm in that frame of mind..
