Just doing some routine fettling on this, now its settled in a bit. Funny how huge the neck feels, and things I've seen (particularly finish / binding wise) that I was happy with at the time but look a bit off now. All part of the fun and learning process I suppose, and it was built for a mate who didn't cock a snook at a free guitar! It does look better now without the pickguard I think:

    The back still looks the same; thats not a huge heel in the pics above, its actually dressed away towards the treble side:
