Hi guys,

basically I’m looking for something on my board to provide me with decent modulation sounds / reverb.

I have a neunaber expanse that I’m selling. Basically it worked great for reverb and a few modulations but I need greater tweakability and ability to run a few modulations together.

I’ve seen the HX Stomp which looks great. But I don’t know what else is out there... I need it to fit on my board and preferably be last in the chain. I can’t break the bank but can spend to around retail price of the HX stomp.

Any alternatives and ideas welcomed. Thanks very much

Zoom MS-70 CDR - cheap to buy new or used, good quality effects specialising in modulations, delays and reverbs but there's more different ones on tap and up to 6 effects can be used at once.
Single pedal space, 9V (? 300 mA) and solidly built and also has a decent in-built tuner

As I was told on here, 'the Dave Gilmour' in one of the Pink Floyd tribute bands uses 2 of these and it does a fine job

    Cheers for the suggestions there

the keeley thing looks interesting for sure. Not sure how convenient the Zoom thing looks for live use (whenever live music becomes a thing again)

  • I can’t recommend the Stomp enough. It’s one of the best guitar-related piece of gear I own due to flexibility and the amount of stuff it has to offer.

Even though you’re only wanting it for reverb and modulation, it offers so much more - things you maybe never thought you’d use it for, pedals/sounds you maybe thought you might like but didn’t want to commit to buying. It can be a back up to your amp when playing live, and is a great, great recording tool.

You won’t find anything that offers more, and sounds as good for the same price

I’d go for the Stomp, it’s got what you need and much more.

What are your concerns with the Zoom for live use?

Caveat, I’ve never played live but it it allows you to store a set of presets (e.g. Chorus + delay; phaser + reverb etc.) and toggle between them. Admittedly a bit fiddly for changing settings on stage and you can’t easily turn one virtual pedal on/off mid-song.

Of course having never played life none of the above may be useful....

Ah, yes You can scroll through 3 presets live but it's a faff and that's why I have 2 of them, but they're great and that still cost me less than £100 used for both

I’ve decided to go with the Stomp. Got the white one arriving tomorrow. I’ve always panicked about amp dying on stage and I guess this will alleviate those concerns ... and being able to plug directly into computer is a BIG plus.
