All good stuff. Yep the next issue is whether the newest models actually get here! Yes unlike the UK Dell don't sell direct, only through resellers. To be fair onboard graphics cards are fine.

I was looking at Dell, HP and Lenovo as these are the main business laptops. And the Elitebook I had was actually a refurb, no complaints it did quite well really.

@Danny1969 yep I have replaced screens in laptops before and the firmware tip is noted!

There are some Apple specialists but they are in the big city and I am not! And the plague has reduced the potential for running to and fro. Might still take in the Macbook Pro just to get an opinion.

My only real criteria is a good screen as I will be editing photographs. However if I find the right Lenovo T series Thinkpad it might just be worth going that route and saving up for a decent monitor. These should be at upgradeable.....
The Lenovo Thinkpads are about the only decent laptop I see these days ... expensive but very good. They remind me of the original IBM Thinkpads where quality was assured.

Even if they tell you the Mac Pro us unrepairable don't bin it as people like me will buy it dead and either repair it or use it for spares.

I intend to wait until I find a tech who will give me good news!

Have a deal hopefully going through in the next week so will have a few tokens to start looking. I think there are a couple of refurbs/used Thinkpads around locally. But those will definately be cash only!!

90% set on a Lenovo Ideapad 14" with the AMD Ryzen processor..... 16GB of RAM.......

Can't really justify anything more expensive right now, so the price and value package seems ok. Screen will have to do unless I go Apple or Dell XPS etc.

So, just need to see if the finance option works! Hungary so it is by no means assured and will no doubt take ages................

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
