  • Thumbs up for Surrey Amps in Guildford - https://surreyamps.co.uk/ - who revived my Friedman JJ Jr and quickly had it back in full working order. As Fez said above however, the price of valves is very high at the moment.

Vintek just outside Dorchester , Dorset.

Ian replaced a faulty resistor in my Jet City and revalved it for a very reasonable price - nice guy too. Sounds glorious now

Techs now appear to be thin on ground in Devon as Black Magic appear closed. Any suggestions?

    Halifax/Bradford/Leeds

Probably been mentioned but Howard @ Mac Amps is great.

Sorted out a Dumble build I fumbled my way through with no success. Ended up doing a complete rewire and essentially rebuilt the whole thing for not very much money. Also improved some shortcomings in the PCB design that I would never have spotted and tidied up all the grounding as the layout provided had some weird stuff going on.

Stuart lives at the Oxfordshire/Berkshire border and I can't recommend him enough.  Very knowledgeable and great value for money. Had lots of amp repaired by Stuart over the years.

I have used Dave Smart in Oxford and Stuart (Berkshire Amp Repairs) in Caversham (nr Reading). Both excellent and reasonably priced.

@JerkMoans have you tried Roger at Sound Services? He's in West Drayton and is fantastic!

Only just seen your post but if you are still looking Darren is at SealHayne near Newton Abbot…
he’s always busy but does his best to help out musicians …

Seems like every tech is out of business or without working hands.

Looking for anyone in SE London/Surrey/Kent who can service an amp, replace tubes and perform bias.

    Thanks.

@NCo try Andy at Horseman Soundworks, he's near Gatwick and has worked on a bunch of 60s Fender amps for me recently. Tell him Olly sent you!

Anyone know any amp techs in Hull?
Got a couple of contacts but they appear to be generalists rather than specialists. Otherwise I've been looking wider Yorkshire and Rosewell seem like the pole position option for my poorly '69 Bassman.
I looked up Mac Amps but it appears that Howard isn't in the best of health at the moment and respectfully don't want to bother him. I'm about an hour and half drive from both.

  • Good tip on Andy at Horseman, I was curious if anyone had worked with him before as I just came into possession of a Fender Rivera era Twin that needs some... Light help, shall we say! (I've spoken to Andy before but not taken him any amps to work on as yet.)

Just dropped the amp today, he seems like a greeat guy. He does have a lead time of 4 weeks though, so I'll be without an amp for a while.
