Now Sorted - Voxey amp Victory Copper, Morgan AC etc

Hi all,

Looking for a Voxey style amp like a Victory copper or Morgan ac, suhr badger 35. Ideally something light with power options (half power switch, power scaling etc).

Need to be able to get band level cleans with a Gibson. Be nice to use it at lower levels too.

Anyone have one to shift?

Have you considered Dr Z Carmen Ghia? There is a head going on eBay, but doesn’t have power scaling. Great sounding amp, a close Vox cousin.

A Genz Benz Black Pearl ticks all your boxes except the light bit (2 x 12). The 7w setting is really usable at home and you can normally pick them up for £400-£450 which is crazy for what they are

For what it's worth the AC20 is phenomenal. The power scaling is super useful too. If you don't mind waiting, they do come up occasionally.

@variplexi did have a look at the Carmen Ghia. But I need cleans with a Gibson at band volume. Should have mentioned that sorry. Lovely amps tho!

Have you considered........a Vox?

I'd fully recommend one if you're looking for a Voxey sound.

Not intended as patronising at all. Was just making the point that nobody does the Vox sound better than them IMHO.

Plus they're cheaper than some of the other possible options.

Ok, thx for the tip buddy. I've honestly not looked into them in detail. I know the AC15 doesn't have enough headroom and an AC30 is too loud an heavy.  But haven' looked into the rest of their range.

@jonathangus I ordered that victory online at Anderson's. They then come back to me to say that it's already been sold. Now have to wait 3-5 working days for my money back. Bunch of jokers

Or Bad Cat Black Cat. They did a15w and 30w .Half power switch and brilliant master volume which can be switched out of the circuit.

It amazes me how a company the size of Anderton's doesn't have a real-time stock database.  Can't be that difficult, surely?

@Wazmeister I've ordered a Victory Copper head. The only amps that I've been totally happy with are Victory. So gonna stick with that formula

Will report back. Gonna match it with my V40 deluxe head in stereo!

Yup, ordered a new one    Think it arrives tomorrow.

I'll prob need to think about speaker options because my current ones might not be the best match for it.   But I'm gonna try it with my ox top first and find out what speaker types I like with it.
