WTB Vintage Gibson ES330 or Epiphone Casino

Anyone got a vintage ES330 or Casino they want to sell? Pre 1965 is ideal due to the nut width though a transitional nut width would be ok too. No narrow 40mm models. Any condition considered.

Indeed. I’m looking for a more affordable option.

Thanks but I’m after an average to good condition vintage model.

Eye watering prices, but extremly nice clean examples of both the Casino and the 330! Ive noticed prices rising like mad on vintage gear. Late 50’s Les Paul Juniors have gone from £5500 to £8500 in the space of a year……

Yes it is mental but I’m not desperate, I just quite fancy one and always have. If I can’t get one at a sensible price then I won’t bother. I have a decent budget though for a good example which should easily satisfy the price for a private sale.

Have you caught up with the new USA Casino yet? Appreciate your hearts set on a vintage model but might be a way into the vibe? Plus a few years down the line it shoukd wear nicely!

I had a similar desire for a vintage 330 not long ago but ended up being thoroughly satisfied by an Eastman T64 for under a quarter of the price in the end. Just a backup suggestion for the future in case the vintage search doesn’t bear fruit…

Love it! A Bigsby on a Casino is just right in so many ways.

I bought a lovely 2018 ES-330 at the weekend from the equally lovely @camf and had the opportunity to try it against a 1960 ES-330 yesterday. It was remarkably similar considering the 58 years of difference. The 2018 had a slightly chunkier neck, and was more bassy plugged in, but the acoustic tone was so similar that I couldn't tell the difference. The ease of playing on the 1960 version was just as good as on the 2018 version, and I was hard pushed to say that one was appreciably newer (or older).

Not suggesting that you 'shouldn't' get a vintage one in the slightest (far from it!),  but just throwing it into the conversation as I was quite surprised by how similar they were. I couldn't say which one was 'better' - they were both great.
    Call me Dave.

Must be latest ones to chase , has something happened lately ? Vintage semis are hot right now . Matey shows off a 59 330 then I go trade something and guy has 1963 330 on sofa , worth 6k he says and not selling for life because Justin Hayward is his hero and owns one . Ok my hero is Jimmy Page , what do I get for 6k ? May be an image of guitar

Andy Baxter regularly sell wide nut models for £5.5-6k. I’m not paying that much though, great guitars as they are they’re not worth that much to me.

It would be nice to see a Nashville custom shop version of a 330 at some point

I have no actual insights into this but I assume all these guitarpoints and ATBs of the world have a decent roladex of cashed-up regulars who have the means to pick up anything they fancy. But it ain’t me babe.
