Jack Reacher the 2nd instalment...woeful pile of shit
It was a decent enough film, but it wasn't Reacher, I'm not convinced it's possible to make a Reacher film.....

Aye it was awful.  I really enjoyed the first one, but 2 has a generic storyline and is boring.  3/10.

Batman Vs. Superman vs. Luthor vs. Wonder Woman vs. The Scriptwriters

Actually quite enjoyed it, mainly for Gal Gadot. Thought Affleck was pretty good as Batman, and appreciated how they explained the 'Bat Growl' this time round.

    7/10 from me.

    X-Men Apocalypse.

pants. Sophie Turner badly miscast. Terrible baddie.

Almost as bad as Brett Ratner's one. Almost.

    Don't Breath.

The Pianist - True story of the experiences of Polish pianist Wladislaw Szpilman in the Warsaw Jewish ghetto during WWII. Quite harrowing and definitely not a feelgood film. I knew the way the Jews in the ghettos were treated by the Nazis was appalling but have to admit I hadn't realised quite how appalling. Several scenes depict Jews going about their daily lives being murdered for little or no reason other than recreation. I guess it shows how seemingly normal people can behave when they believe there will be no consequences to their actions and it is certainly thought provoking. Even more so when I guess for most of us this happened in our parents' generation.

A good, and very watchable film, but probably something you need to be in the right mood to watch.

    Beautiful landscape.
    A man, a boy, surviving.
    Canine companions.

    (Review in Haiku,
for those who did not notice.
    In keeping with film.)

Ex Machina - Interesting idea and quite watchable, but too much explained as it went along and not enough left for the viewer to work out for himself or herself. 7/10.

  • Paddington.

I've never read the books and don't remember much about the cartoons so don't have a point of comparison. I really enjoyed it  =) although it's a bit sad at times. One of those films where you feel they've thought about every second of it and not just thrown it together.

    Anyway, I enjoyed it.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.  What a strange mess of a film.  It doesn't know if it's action or comedy or horror or romance - in fact the most convincing bits are when they play it as straight historical drama like the original.  Still, it looks nice.

Gone Girl. I pretty much guessed the twist but not how far that character would go... nuts. A bit too long but I enjoyed it

    Cockneys Vs Zombies.

A subtly moving piece conveying the deep divisions and tensions that develop between man and his environment. Bong Mei Sheguin is incredibly moving in his portrayal of an 8 year old Mongolian yak herder's son.

Or something like that. Predictable but quite funny.
