I quite enjoyed Gallowwalkers which probably says a lot about my dubious taste

Hell or high water:- 8/10. A sparse, gritty modern western. Jeff bridges is excellent and a nearly retired Texas ranger hunting down a pair of bank robbing brothers who are doing all they can to make enough money to keep their land. One brother is relatively calm, but the other is unpredictable and dangerous.
Bad Santa 2:- 4/10. I liked the original, there's no other film like it so I was looking forward to number 2, even though I knew it wouldn't match up. Unfortunately there is little story and it's just puerile gag after puerile gag. Some are funny but I can't help thinking their only plan was to stoop lower and lower in order to get a few laughs, rather than writing some kind of story. Worth a watch if it happens to be on TV
Close encounters:- 8/10. Can't remember which cut it was, the one where you don't see inside the mother ship, like Spielberg intended. Considering its age, it doesn't look bad, the effects don't try to do too much which stops it ageing too much, the aliens at the end look a bit wonky but all in all this is a classic. I like the vibe of the film and the benign atmosphere the lights in the sky create.
however.. next on the list is Rogue One, Dr Strange and Assassins Creed..
normality will be restored
Thank fuck. I was starting to worry about you.
I'm not sure that I really engaged with it but I can see it in terms of performance and film making as something above the norm.
A thoroughly brilliant film I have absolute NO intention of ever watching again.
It's like a love letter to Stockholm Syndrome...
Spoiler Alert - It's great.
And looking at the soundtrack listing, I don't think I could bear to watch it now after hearing so many of those songs tortured and murdered on the X Factor, BGT etc for the last 15 years.
