Does anyone here use one of them stomp logs? Any recommendations?

I have an old IKEA shelf with four rubber amp feet and an undersaddle piezo gaffa taped to it.

It doesn't appear to sound any better or worse than the commercial versions.

Trick is glue a piece of rubber car mat to the bottom to stop it sliding around, roll off all the treble when you plug it in, at the time it was the cheapest we could find, haven’t found a reason to replace it.

I went completely overkill with this and bought a Roland SPD Wav, meant I could not only load samples of drums but also samples from songs. Mainly the drum fill from ‘In the Air Tonight’ works like an absolute charm.
