I thought i would post this in case folks here knew or were taught by steve ...

He sadly died back in may but ive only just found out today and its been a bit of a shock ...;(

I had some theory lessons with steve in the 80s but we became mates and he really was a mentor to me ....

He was in the later incarnation of jameson raid , mistress and some other bands i cant quite remember , he went on to play with don powell and dave hill in slade 2 and toured extensively ... he played on cosy powells album along with brian may , i lost touch when he moved to cornwall but  he really was a great bloke a consumate teacher and bloody good mate ...

Rest easy dude,  jack butler better watch out on those paganini caprices !  X
