Good shout for Tequila Sunrise, @hollywoodrox -  also it's good for practising double-stops.

It really is  , and it has a very pleasing sound

Yes, I too love playing Tequila Sunrise but I hear and play it in thirds.  Maybe I have it all wrong .........

Another Brick is one of the best constructed solos you'll ever learn. But it's all about space, timing and bending.

Tangential suggestion (as an addition to everything stated thus far). Nursery rhymes and Christmas carols. They are simple, strongly melodic, using intervals that come up time and time again in music. Really good for ear training, etc.

  • Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits.  Apart from the lengthy outro solo, most of the song consists of short, self-contained fills which you can work on in isolation.  Good to practise your string bending.

And it would be remiss of me not to suggest Apache by the Shadows.   ;)
