It's a plastic surround. Unsure of the height, will get the calipers out tomorrow and take a gander, but it's about the same as a short-legged seymour duncan (only without the legs of course, as the surround goes all the way down)

I fancied the pickup spec but could not overlook the black surround.

Ah that's a shame. It's only the B&B Lawrence that comes with a chrome surround I believe. The BL USA are all in the black plastic, as far as I know.
