"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

  • That's lovely Richard. What effect did removing the Bigsby have on the overall tone & feel, if anything? I'm thinking of ordering a Bigsby'd semi but was unsure of what the mass on the top would do to the tone and response.

It improved tuning stability (as you'd expect) and possibly took a little 'air' out of the sound - though I wouldn't swear to this; this is the change you are 'supposed' to hear....

The guitar balances better now when played seated (it was very 'tail happy' before) and the volume controls are easier to reach.

In the vintage market, Bigsby equipped 335 command lower prices than stop-tails. I paid about the same for that guitar as a Gibson Historic.

    I

    Want:

Gibson only (no 'the ibanez is better' shenanigans)
    Bigsby
    P90s
Walnut or very dark red finish

also feel free to use this thread as an excuse to post ES355 porn pics.

This has (almost) it all, unfortunately it's also £5000+

Ooohh, Despite my dislike of Gibson bringing out signature guitars from almoste everyone who's ever played a guitar (except me), I have to say that that's nice.

I probably like it as I love Luther's playing with the NM Allstars and the Black Crowes.

If your guitar does not break the Wow button there is clearly something wrong with this forum! I would say that a guitar of this vintage, with an expertly repaired headstock, is much more desirable to a musician. Half of the guys reading this will play gigs occasionally where they would feel just confident enough to play out with a £**** guitar. But when it is a £***** guitar everything changes. That guitar might never play out.

  • Gretsch name satisfys Gisbon lust ... and leaves pennies left over for a possible 2nd hand Fender amp head.

I love having a 40th birthday coming up.

My old and much lamented '68 mono 355:

    http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee348/shugz27/68355_zps919010cf.jpg

Loved this guitar and hope one day I'll get another. This one had earlier Pat No pickups and was a great sounding and playing ES. I think there's some footage of it in my Youtube channel as well.

In my humble opinion, vintage 355's are great (almost) accessible vintage players. 335's and LP's of similar vintage are now sadly a bit OTT pricewise but a nice 345 or 355 is just a wonderful guitar that has most of the features the more sought after (and expensive) guitars have.

    Cheers
