Onto the specs
To spare repeating myself, just stick ‘Master Grade AAAA+++ of the finest variety’ in front, when you read out each one of the list below. Try it out loud.
Everything is as you would expect out of the Lowden workshop. Impeccable, beautiful and special. It’s an F-50 spec instrument, so it is indeed the very best that lowden can make.
In terms of condition, it’s in good overall shape with evidence of careful playing. It was built in 2012 so it’s only just turning 10 years old this year. Action is set at 1.5mm at 12th fret for high e and 2mm for low E. It’s currently strung with Elixir Pb 12-53.
The guitar comes with all of the original Lowden documentation and the Lowden Pro II hardcase.
Tonally, I can only describe it as an orchestral symphony of well balanced tones and overtones. I’m not much of a DAGAD player but once you do change the tuning it’s as if you enter a new creative dimension. It truly is a guitar that begs to be played solely for the sake of being played.
In terms of current retail, richtone music have it advertised at £7555 and guitar guitar at £6999. Project music have a preorder page at £6370. The new model has wooden inlays on the headstock whereas this one has the ‘posher’ Pearl inlays.
I’d like £4600 for this one. I’m based in Swansea, South Wales, happy to travel if necessary.
As a side note, Pierre Bensusan was unavailable to record a demo video of this instrument for me as he’s currently busy on a nearly 100 date tour in North America (I wish). In lieu of that, I’ve recorded a short sample of what it sounds like in my comparably amateurish hands.
Excuse the barrage of images, it warrants it.

Yes indeed - you've acquired some absolutely lovely guitars. This is another beauty.
Beautiful guitar for somebody with a nice chunk of change.
