    Just out of interest. Do the caps discharge on the BDRI and Hot Rod when you power them down or do you have to discharge them yourself. Would you need to power the amp off and leave it in standby on to discharge them rather than standby off then power off?  I need to convert my BDRI to 240v and might be an idea to make myself a discharging lance.

    Putting the amp on standby discharges the caps via the valves - the standby is upstream of the rectifier.

    You already probably know enough to know this is not true for all amps though!
