I quite regularly improvise a slide at gigs (sometimes because I forget to bring a slide, sometimes I get bored and fancy a challenge)

A spoon is excellent (tablespoon is better than teaspoon in my experience)
Bottles and lighters are good
Pint glasses are HARD (although it's quite good fun to nick someone's pint out their hand, play a solo with it and then give it back)
