That’s good to hear Mark. I know what you mean though.  It can seem unforgiving but has real character and edges you toward playing with greater accuracy.  The bass, especially with that Adi top, is great and it’s only going to get better.

    why "strange"  ?

Ive only ever played one Collings, at the LGS when they had it at the ExCel centre so few years ago now............. it  was very uninspiring,  I felt "cheated" in a way,   :s

I saw Julian Lage talking about the voicing of that guitar and in his own whimsical way he essentially said that what comes out of it is 'the truth', which I interpreted as meaning it's going to hold you responsible for pulling the tone out of it.

Yep. I know exactly what you mean. Some guitars are forgiving. Some are exacting - you have to o everything just right. But if you do ... wow! They are very rewarding.

(But it's good to have another one you can relax with.)

Looking forward to your pictures @mgaw

@bertie its the only acoustic I have played that absolutely demands your full attention, it’s going to take my playing to a far better place and I won’t ever out grow or feel complacent of it as an instrument

stunning guitar that makes your good work shine and your blunders so so obvious

Maybe there's a bad Collings out there, never found it though! The clarity and piano -like tone are what I like about them.

I have owned a few of theirs. 0002h was a peach. This one is in a different class certainly to my tastes

@greejn quite right, it’s all a matter of taste and I certainly find it hard to see that “feeling cheated “ isn’t an odd response considering the build quality of Collings.

if you don’t like em then you don’t like em

Same here.  I have found most flatter the player which is obvious great.  This one is like hitting the accelerator and realising for the first time it’s has way more oomph than you thought possible.

I spy the Bluechip. A flatpicked hog/Adi OM is such a righteous sound.

I read Bill saying it was his favourite combination of woods.
