This is a stereo (mid/side) microphone that connects to the Lightning port on your iPhone or iPad. It's excellent for quick recordings and can cope with loud band levels at practice sessions without distorting or being brick wall limited. There's a free app (Motiv Audio) from Shure that lets you decide how to configure the mic:

- raw mid/side 
- xy stereo (with software adjustable mic angles)
- mono (cardiod)
- mono (figure of 8) 

I've used it with GarageBand, Multitrack DAW, Voice Memos and Music Memos, so I'd guess it will work with any iOS app using Core Audio. 

Comes with the case and windshield, but the original box has gone walkies.
