I've been meaning to build a partscaster for ages, finally got round to it.
Got a lovely alder body from ebay, chap that goes under the name of jamesguitarparts - I can really recommend http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/jamesguitarparts
Got a neck, paint and most other stuff from northwestguitars.co.uk
I scored some awesome Suhr v54 and v62lp pickups right here off @sicksquid
It's the 1st time I've sprayed nitro, wasn't anywhere near the nightmare I though it would be. I was going for a "slightly fu&*ed" relic finish, rather than "dragged behind a truck"
All in all came out at a rather svelte and resonant 7lb 10oz, which was nice!

Is that Surf Green?
Thanks for all the comments
Yes its Surf Green, very hard to capture the colour indoors.
I'm certainly going to do something else now, I'm totally hooked! I was thinking a nice Shell Pink Cabronita next.
I really enjoyed doing it, just took my time and took lots of pleasure from that alone.
shell pink cabronita would look the bomb......
Hey!
Northwestguitars.co.uk supplied all the paint, nothing magical + the excellent advice on the @steverobinson blog http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/blog/
Rattle can of Sanding Sealer & nitro white primer 400 ml
Surf green and clear gloss for spray gun, 250ml each (probably sanded/polished all the clear gloss off to be honest) + a tin of thinners for diluting 70/30 and cleaning up.
I've probably got 1/3 of the green and gloss left.
I just followed the "spray it thin and make sure it's wet, no more than 3 coats a day" mantra... Oh and prep well
Hope that helps
