As many others have said it is very difficult to name a favourite three, so I'll go with those that have influenced my playing the most:-

    Michael Schenker

    Gary Moore

    Tony Clarkin...

...with honourable mentions for Billy Gibbons, Neal Schon, Mark Knopfler, Bernie Marsden & Micky Moody

  • Probably Vai, Nuno, and then one of Paul Gilbert/Vito Bratta/Ronnie le Tekro for third. Too hard to decide !

  • Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Hendrix and Jimi Hendrix

(I've found it easier to pick just one instead of three).

    Nuno

    SRV

As much as I admire slash, he is a bit of a one trick pony imo. Good trick, but he's been doing it since the 80's.

I dunno, I had a hard time forgiving them for III Sides To Every Story.

I quite liked some of his post-Extreme projects though.

    Impossible thread, this.

    1. Nuno Bettencourt (seen twice)
    2. Paul Gilbert (seen four times, had guitar lesson with three other guys)
    3. James Hetfield (sadly, since I've had the means there's been no point in going to see Metallica)

I've listed my all-time faves rather than those players I'm into at the moment. No honourable mentions from me, I'd never stop.

@Hootsmon did say who was hot when he was growing up, so:

    1. Noel Gallagher
    2. Graham Coxon
    3. John Squire

Never seen any of them. Gallagher was a bit of an influence, and I quite admired what Squire was doing.

Hendrix - he started me off
Erik Mongraine - a recent find, amazing guitarist and writes lovely stuff
Peter Green - amazing feel, and made every note count

    Starting to sneak in...

Michael Hedges - not someone you really hear that much about, but an innovator and wrote beautiful songs

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to
