Yer blues

What's Hot
Does anyone know what effects john lennon and george harrison are using on the solos to "yer blues" on the white album?

that split screen is so annoying! Just googling Yer Blues. Seems to be some agreement that all the amps were put in a small room and turned up to patent pending, so the overall sound has loads of bleed between both guitars and bass. Looks like they used Fender amps ( Silverface ? 1968).

Seem to recall seeing Bassman mentioned along with overloaded desk input channels

The VHS recording I have off the TV! And presumably the DVD? Doesn't show it split screen. That was the first YouTube result...

Beatles Gear has it on the page talking about George first getting Lucy, but it's not clear what's on the song itself. Certainly sounds plausible tone-wise.

Nothing obvious sticks out fx wise. Studio trickery messing with the tape is more likely than stomp boxes.

You might find George doesn't even play on it at all. Most of Lennons tones from this era are either plugged straight into the desk and over loading it or a Vox 7 series amp.

  • If you're seriously interested check out the book Revolution In The Head. It documents every song in their catalogue. Some more so than others. From what i remember wasnt this the first song that they recorded after Ringo rejoining. If it is they just all got in a small room and jammed the fuck out.

Id hazard that there wasn't any "fx pedals" going on. the first solo sounds like John with maybe some leslie speaker to add colour. That whole solo section is almost certainly edited in at a later date though so it could be anything?
    How very rock and roll

IIRC this is what they did.
