NGD I’ve Furched up…

What's Hot

I saw some videos for the Furch Little Jane travel guitar and thought “great idea, but can’t see a benefit to me”. A week away without a guitar changed my mind and a box arrived today.

Apparently there’s a guitar in here

Maybe here?

Great service from Project Music, arrived within 24 hours of purchase.

This is the cool thing about it

It’s a great piece of engineering: the Brompton of guitars.

  • Cool. I like the way the top of the nut slots are covered so the strings stay put when it's dismantled. Presumably you have to pack it quite carefully so the strings don't get tangled - if it's anything like cables then they'll take any opportunity they get to form knots when you're not looking.

    proper job
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

Haven’t put it back in the bag but here’s how it looks packed

    Picture lifted from Furch website.

I’m more concerned about the strings scratching the top so I’ll probably put a piece of cloth in to protect it.

Wow that's hellish damage in transit
I like Furch guitars. This got good reviews I seem to remember . I too am a fan of neat clever engineering.
    Nice job.

Not only is it well engineered, it sounds really good as well: loud for its size and a sweet tone.

    Different but looks pretty useful.

    Wouldn't mind one :)

Cool. You do realise that you have probably awakened a whole new black hole debate on tone vs construction...
    Well done  ;)

Probably best that I don’t share pictures of the interior then :)

It certainly is, apart from the engineering aspect it’s a great little guitar. I’m still getting to grips with it but I’m pleased so far. It’s got a great tone and volume perhaps not as sophisticated as my Brook but that’s probably not a fair comparison as they’re different beasts. But it will do what I want which is to have a portable guitar that I’m going to enjoy playing when I go away.
