TFB Lesson Number 1 : I Don't Want This Night To End - Luke Bryan

EvoEvo Frets: 308
Hi all!

I've been a member here for a fair old while and no doubt a few of you have probably stumbled across me popping up in various posts through the years. What you may or may not know is that I'm actually a full time guitarist and guitar teacher.

With the energy bills running rampant, cost of living surging, and the price of a Tesco meal deal skyrocketing 13.3% in one day, it strikes me that maybe a few folks don't have quite as much cash to spend on their guitar learning these days. So, I want to try and give a little if I can...which lead me to this idea.

I'll post a video of me playing a track "regularly" (no point in committing myself to a timeframe this early on!) along with transcriptions and a few pieces of advice for anyone trying to learn the track. Then if anybody has any questions, they can either post them as a comment or message me privately if you prefer and I'll happily point you in the right direction. It'd be nice to see a few folks posting their own versions as they learn it but that's down to everybody else I guess.

Advice

Whether you decide to tackle the lead guitar part, the rhythm part, a combination of the two, or just strum your way through the chord sheet, first thing I recommend spending some time on is listening to the track to help you memorise the structure. Knowing how the song goes can go a long way towards making it easier to learn.

Those of you working through the chords, this track can be covered entirely using Am, G, F, and C with the exception of a few variations in the bridge. These chords are detailed in the rhythm part tab but just in case...

Gsus4 = xx0013
Fadd9 = xx3213

If you're jumping in with both feet and tackling the lead part then make sure the hook is sounding clean and all the notes are ringing clearly, this is a big, recognisable part of the song and fluffed notes will be noticed here! The beginning of the solo CAN be played as slower then faster tremolo picking but I'd recommend working on the precision of grouping the notes into 4's in bars 65 and 66 and then upping the speed into 6's in bars 67 and 68 if you can.

Lastly, watch your slides in the final two bars of the solo. With that many slides in a row it can be deceptively easy to miss your target if you aren't paying enough attention.

Now, give it a go if you like!

 Please please don't be shy to comment or message if you have any questions or find yourself struggling with a particular part, that's the whole point of doing this. Whether you're a complete beginner finding it difficult to make sense of the music or an experienced player interested in the finer points of the performance...I'd like to help if I can.
