Best ever new guitar day!

Since I can remember having an interest in guitar I always wanted a gibson acoustic.  They were always financially out of reach and I'm more an electric player really so couldn't justify the organs I would have to sell to get one.  I've been stalking this guitar for a few months and finally put a deal together for it today.  I can't remember a happier new guitar day of the many I've had.

I always sell everything so won't call it a lifer but I cannot think of an acoustic I would want more than this, so her is the new 2016 Gibson SJ100 Walnut with LR Baggs pickup (a good thing apparently!)

    Never had a J-100.

Had a J45, Hummingbirds, J200 and this Dove Original I've got now...

Looks a good 'un, though. Let us know how you get on with it.

    EDIT: forgot (sorry) HNGD!

  • Lovely.
Always liked that style, but as a proper shortarse I’d look daft. (See Little Jimmy Dickens for an example).

  • That's a lovely guitar. It's got a 70s vibe about it that appeals to me. I've got an LR Baggs in my J-35 and it works fine. Some don't like them but as long as I use a DI box into the PA it sounds as good as a piezo can.

Looks like the LR Baggs Anthem, which is piezo and microphone which I think sound very good and cost about £250 new. I've just installed one on a Martin.

It is the anthem, the reviews all seem to rave about it.  Tried it into an amp and sounds nice, haven't recorded anything.

Can't comment on the guitar although it looks good but the Anthem - nothing but praise for them. I have of them 4 in various guitars. Not cheap but worth it.

Probably a bit late but HNGD.

I will definitely have to try and set up a Southern Acoustic Jam now, just so that you can bring it along and try it.  :)
