Son in France has been offered a S/H one, in initially for 50 Euros but the seller now wants a bit more.

I don't know the exact mark of amp but would it be useful in a trio, calm drummer, guitarist singer for sort of 'ballardy' African music? And what would be a fair price?

I think so - old COSM ones are pretty much at the bottom of their value at the moment but sound decent to me at that price, simple WYSIWYG controls, 12" speaker, rudimentary effects (reverb, chorus etc), 2 switchable channels, one of which is a clean JC model. Older ones have more features in the bigger models. These filter through to the smaller ones with each new incarnation. I'd say go for it if it's a larger one - the input jacks can be a weak point though.
