Point me at some royalty free music

For an outdoor sports bike race event this weekend I’m announcing and PA providing. I thought some background music would be nice.
PRS want nearly £300 for a music licence. Which is a joke for a volunteer run non profit league bike race.
So I need to download some royalty free music that would work well as background accompanying race music in between commentary and announcements.
Where should I go?

Some fanfare stuff for Podium ceremony would be good too.

Thanks!

So you're too cheap to pay for music, and too lazy to google "royalty free music" yourself? lol

    Here you go:

    Damn straight! :-/

Organising a bike race is hard enough. Incidental music for a bike race - well that’s ripe for delegation to the mighty forum de fretboard

Pretty sure they are free free... rather than paid-for "free"...

I think the business model is to try to upsell you to paid-for stock stuff (they also deal in stock photos and video clips).

But there isn't a lot out there in general - most people do like to get paid at least a few peanuts for their work.

For what? Mental distress? Inducement of tinnitus? The humiliation of public bowel loosening through application of low frequency vibrations?

Thanks to YouTube there is an amazing large amount of royaltyfree content that suits perfectly.

I found a load free on Soundcloud and Evanto Elements have a 7day free trial. So i've got a couple hours worth of instrumental background upbeat music which I will just leave running on repeat. Must remember to cancel the Evanto trial after the weekend!

Its been a learning experience. I now know where all that cheezy shite corporate background music comes from for all those cheezy shite YT ads. Some good stuff in there but LOTS of cheeze.
One very cool thing is i've now got 'proper' medal ceremony music for the podium awards. It'll feel like an Olympic gold medal up there.

I was totally expecting it to be about £30 for a oneoff day licence which I would happily have paid. Who pays £300 for background music? Of course for our outdoor bike race in a field behind a school, nobody will ever police it. But I'm not going to chance it and have the venue or organisers get snotty letters or fines. Malicious Compliance Ensues...

@polarityman - if you've got anything suitable send a link, if its not royalty protected I'll happily add it in.
