To be honest I'd never heard of this chap until a couple of weeks ago when he got in trouble for wearing a rainbow T-shirt in Qatar.

Now I've read that he collapsed and died during the Argentina-Netherlands game last night.  Aged 48.  Mark Chapman just mentioned on the radio that Wahl was sharing a flat with some of the international football journalists working with the BBC on the World Cup coverage.

As I say, I really knew very little about him but I just found the news quite shocking.  RIP.
