The woman that dressed punk & was far more influential than Malcolm McClaren. RIP.

Did a corporate gig where she was an honoured guest. She only had interest in the band and was a good hang despite having already been drifting away for some time.

I enjoyed the toxicity of her and Malcolm ......When I was 18 I used to hang out at her boutique 'Nostalgia of Mud ' in St Christopher's Place . I went clubbing with them quite often . They were both raving mad but great fun although she was always a bit aloof.
He was an out and out Hustler .
I thought her Bolivian inspired era was great ( gave birth to the Buffalo Girl look ) but never been wowed by anything she did since.

  • As a teenager in the 80’s I was a bit more of a rock chick than New Romantic but I had loved Adam and the Ants. She gave British fashion a kick in the pants at the time and went on to come up with some amazing designs.
I eventually became a seamstress specialising in Goth and period garments. I love her use of corsetry and other period influences.
    RIP Madam xx

  • What a Dame and what a shame. I don’t think we (as society) give enough credit to people like Vivienne Westwood.

She was a true visionary who had a permanent impact on fashion, music and art. Those regular conversations about Modern Art being crap miss the point completely - you have to push boundaries to come back in again - she really did that massively.

Back in the nineties I lived in South London and she was around the corner in a smart Thirties flat. I was way too shy to dare talking to her.

    Wished I had now…

Much respect and a great example of how to age gracefully - RIP.
