Very sad to hear that Alan Rankine has died, aged only 64.
Still a huge influence through his time with the Associates even after all these years, as well as latterly a producer, lecturer & all round music person.

That's very sad news. I briefly met him on a few occasions (circa 1980s) when he was brought in as a potential producer for couple of singers that I played guitar for. It never came to anything, but I remember him as a really cool nice guy.
