Riff of the Month (RotM) #79 Challenge

This is the 79th Riff of the Month (RotM) Challenge.

The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until midnight on 24th March 2023.

All you have to do is ...

Write a riff. It could be anything from a single RAW guitar track to a full mix of instruments or a Bass guitar riff. However, the focus must be on the riff. Most entries will probably be guitar based riffs, but they don't have to be.

Aim to keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds. This is about riffs, not songs.

Include your forum name in the email.

Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point. The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends. 

No prizes. It's just for fun.

That would be great. But I know what you mean about getting time to do stuff. And I'm retired so, in theory, I should have loads of time.

Hello, new entrant here. I'm finally writing / recording again after a hiatus of ten years or so... and thoroughly enjoying every second of it!

I've just sent in my mp3. This is actually the main riff from a full track I just finished for the basschat.co.uk composition challenge this month - hope it's ok to use it here too.

Listening back over previous RotM there are some fantastic riffs here - really looking forward to participating!

I was making an 80s hair metal style SOTM track and thought I might as well send you one of the riffs.

This is actually a riff I came up with in rehearsal when our bassist asked ed me to make the eternally dull but popular with proseccoed-up mums Hungry Eyes more interesting and I tried to rip off Jake E Lee

Guitar: Gibson Les Paul Studio > VFE Standout boost > MJW Electra 30 > Ox > Reaper (eq)

Bass: Yamaha RBX270 straight into the interface > Reaper (compression, eq, overdrive, chorus)

The guitar riff was inspired by the drum pattern. The bass riff took a couple of days to emerge. I find it does take me a couple of days to get into the groove when playing bass, as my natural inclination is to launch into a bass solo at the first opportunity
