I know there are a few synth / groovebox fiends on there.

Looks superb

4 poly synths with VA, FM and Wavetable
Full drum machine
Runs on batteries
Loads of knobs and faders

Also quite compact and reasonably priced

I have an MC-707 already, but I really want one anyway.

I had an MC-202. I loved its squidgy sounds but I never got on with its rigid approach to Step Time programming. Instead, I would punch in eight or sixteen notes of equal length and let it squiggle away as a loop while I fiddled with the controls.

After a while, I neglected the machine - specifically, I left the batteries in it. They corroded and leaked, doing untold damage.  :#

I was considering getting one but I'm sticking with the 707 for the moment

    It's a great box.

ZenCore is an excellent synth if you like those retro Roland sounds and it also works very nicely as a 4 channel mixer with loads of great FX.

Sequencing is basic compared to Elektron, but it has an Ableton style clip launcher which is quite cool.

Thanks to an enforced change of computer and delays in reinstating plug-in instrument software, I have been a latecomer to Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2 Sonic Extensions.

The sounds in the Seismic Shock and Unclean Machine collections are glorious and inspiring. Even just mucking about with the Presets and the editing controls, it is difficult not to stumble across an idea for a new composition.
