Anyone going to this in May?

I managed to get a ticket and the line-up looks quite good:

Doyle Bramhall
Eric Clapton
Gary Clark Jr
Johnny Depp
Billy Gibbons
Imelda May
John McLaughlin
Robert Randolph
Rod Stewart
Joss Stone
Susan Tedeschi
Derek Trucks

Although there are rumours that there could be some further additions - maybe Jimmy Page?

Not sure if my eyes were tricking me but I am sure the only tickets I could see (on my phone) at 10am were £400+  :#

There's much discussion in the Zep fan community about Jimmy's fitness levels for any playing - basically he hasn't played in public since 2015 and even then he had to be coaxed to play. Apparently he only occasionally strums his acoustic these days in order to prevent damage to the frescos in his house(!)

That said, I reckon he'll do it. If he won't do it for Jeff then he never will.

  • Got the ticket also, sort of a bucket list to see some of these people. It is expensive but felt like the lineup was special enough.
Paid 142 or so also circle I think. The really good seats were not available anymore, there were some costing 200 but was already too much for me. Not sure why this has to be this expensive. You can see kurt rosenwinkel for 30£ on the 22nd of March standing 5 metres away from you at jazz cafe.

I saw Jeff Beck years ago and it was really good.
I saw Led Zep at Knebworth, have the t-shirt & DVD, and have met Jimmy Page, so that box is ticked.
I'm not sure about these tribute gigs and the only name there which vaguely piqued my interest was John McLaughlin.
They often turn up on TV and some are OK - there were Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac and Jeff Beck retrospective ones which had some good bits, but otherwise it's a pretty tired format.

I saw Jeff at the Albert hall last year and so glad I did after being meaning to for years. Not fussed about Clapton but Billy Gibbons is still great, trucks is superb and I love Imelda May.

Gary Clark Jr. is also very good. I find his playing inspiring.

Its a shame Ronnie Wood isn't confirmed too - as it would be great to see Rod and Ronnie bash out some Truth-era stuff.

I'm hoping Pagey makes an appearance - if he doesn't it probably means we won't see him on a stage again. As has been said, if he won't/can't play for Jeff...

Is that not 4 reasons to go?

Beck had a lot of respect for John McLaughlin who once gave him a Strat that he thought would suit him. I won't be going but it'll sure enough turn up on Sky Arts  ....

  • Seen some videos last night, going tonight myself.
Not sure why people were blessed by the presence of Kirk Hammett and his wah :)
I don’t know how I feel about mindless shredding having paid so much for these tickets.
Anyway, let’s keep an open mind :)
